What "One Day" Really Means
When a floor can be refinished in a day, it is almost always a screen and recoat or a clean and buff on a floor in healthy condition. The work portion fits in a day; the finish then continues to cure over the following days, which is why you will get separate guidance for foot traffic, furniture and rugs.
A one-day promise for a floor that needs sanding, coating removal or repairs is a red flag. Those steps have to be done correctly before finish goes down, and rushing them is how floors end up peeling or uneven.
Getting Ready for a One-Day Job
A little preparation keeps a same-day process on schedule:
- Clear the rooms of furniture, rugs and wall hangings near the baseboards.
- Tell us about any past products used on the floor, especially polish or restorers.
- Plan pet and child access for the rest of the day and the curing period.
- Send photos in advance so we can confirm the floor is a one-day candidate.

Not usually. We give exact timing for your finish, but furniture and rugs generally wait longer than light foot traffic.
What if my floor turns out not to qualify?
